LECTIO DIVINA - PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES

  1. Listening to the Word of God

    • As we listen to the Word of God read for the first time, we are invited to be aware of any word or phrase that stands out. After a minute of silence we will be invited to share it with the group.

    • The Scripture is read, and there’s a minute of silence.

  2. Reflecting on the Word of God

    • As we listen to the Word of God for the second time, we are invited to be aware of any reflection or thought that we became aware of as we listened. After a minute of silence we will be invited to share it in a brief way with the group.

    • The Scripture is read, and there’s a minute of silence.

  3. Responding to the Word of God

    • As we listen to the Word of God for the third time, we are invited to be aware of any prayer that rises up within us from our hearts that expresses what we are experiencing in and through this Word. After a minute of silence we will be invited to express it aloud in a brief way.

    • The Scripture is read, and there’s a minute of silence.

  4. Resting in the Word of God

    • After we listen to the Word of God for a fourth time, we are invited just to sit with it in silence, aware beyond its words, communing with the Spirit who speaks through it. In the silence of our hearts, to simply rest in the Spirit.

    • The Scripture is read, and today we have two minutes of silence after the 4th reading.
